Google, Others Honored at 2008 Climate All Stars Conference

Google and ten other Bay Area leaders received awards honoring their climate protection work this year at the 2nd Annual Climate All Stars Conference in San Francisco. Major efforts in energy efficiency, financing, transportation and land use, and public/private partnerships received acclaim at the conference that drew over 375 representatives of business, government, nonprofits, education, and youth. The Conference announced the following award winners: CATEGORIES and WINNERS

  7. Community - Great Communities Collaboration
  8. Renewable Energy - Paul Fenn
  9. Sky’s The Limit - Sonoma County Water Agency
  10. Individual Achievement/Commitment - Abby Young, Bay Area Air Quality
  11. Management District Planner
  12. Organizer’s Choice Award - Peter Barnes, Entrepreneur and Writer

Award winners represent leadership work in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and advancing solutions at the speed and scale needed to achieve the scientific imperative. Solutions support the growth of the clean technology industry, major collaborations and best practices, and sustainable and equitable development near transit, among others. The 2nd Annual Climate All Stars Conference was designed to inspire and accelerate innovative climate protection measures and to identify opportunities to collaborate regionally, building on last year’s conference efforts and public commitments. More than 70 partners, sponsors, and exhibitors came together to produce the 2008 Conference, organized by the Sonoma County-based Climate Protection Campaign. The Climate Protection Campaign inspires action in response to the climate crisis by advancing practical, science-based solutions for significant greenhouse gas reductions. The Campaign works with government, business and the community locally, regionally, and at the state level.
