The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) is on the verge of a decision that could adversely affect Community Choice Energy. The decision is about the long-standing exit fee controversy. There are several options before the Commission and we invite you to join us in supporting the option that is the most fair and favorable to all parties, including Community Choice agencies (CCAs) and their customers.

The Center for Climate Protection supports the “Administrative Law Judge’s Proposed Decision” before the CPUC to modify the “exit fee” methodology. We oppose the “alternative proposed decision.”

We are joined by 120 elected leaders who just sent an open letter to the CPUC asking them to put people above corporate profits.

Send an email to the California Public Utility Commission. What to say:

Please support the “Administrative Law Judge’s Proposed Decision” to modify the “exit fee” methodology and oppose the “alternative proposed decision” for the following reasons:

  • The Proposed Decision creates a path forward which is fair, transparent, well-reasoned, and considers the evidence with the intent to reasonably balance the interests of bundled and departing load customers in equitably allocating PCIA-eligible costs.
  • It also improves certainty and provides stakeholders with the opportunity to continue to explore additional needed changes.
  • The Proposed Decision includes a solution to prevent cost-shifting, and a directive to develop creative financing solutions to reduce long-term costs.
  • The Proposed Decision is fair to all customers, regardless of which energy provider they choose.
