Ann Hancock, Executive Director and Co-Founder
Ann co-founded the Center for Climate Protection in 2001. With over 25 years in community leadership, education and fundraising, she has been a sustainability planner for the County of Marin, commentator for TomPaine.com, human sexuality instructor at Humboldt State University, and real estate broker. She has a Masters in Public Health Administration and Planning from the University of California, Berkeley.

Barry VesserDeputy DirectorBarry Vesser
Barry began working with the Center in 2005. Prior to this, Barry directed a nonprofit in the Sierras and built the organization from total resources of less than $8000 to $2.1 million in less than seven years. He was also director of a nonprofit promoting organic agriculture in Nepal and was Peace Corps volunteer in the Philippines. He has an M.A. in International Public Administration.

Kristin Berger, Director of Development and Communications
Kristin has worked for over 25 years with community leaders to elevate philanthropic activity for cultural and philanthropic associations, and for private and public universities. Kristin is excited to find new ways to engage our supporters and grow the base of people who understand and take action for the Center for Climate Protection.

Paola Alvarado, ECO2school Program Coordinator
Paola brings nearly five years of experience educating K-12 students to the ECO2school team. She has worked as a Marine Science educator at various aquariums in California including San Francisco’s Academy of Sciences. A Sonoma County native, she graduated from Elsie Allen High School before continuing her education at the UCSB where she received her degree in Environmental Studies. Paola is looking forward to aiding students in reducing GHG and building their environmental awareness and leadership.

Amie Glass has more than 15 years of experience in sustainability program development and marketing/communications.  She is also the Community Relations Director for the Sustainable Enterprise Conference and an associate with CircadiaOne, a sustainability consulting firm.  Prior to this, Amie managed Sonoma County’s Green Business Program and the Leadership Institute for Ecology and the Economy Fellows Network.  Amie has a BS in Community and Regional Development from UC Davis.

 


Woody Hastings, Renewable Energy Implementation Manager
Woody has twenty-three years of energy and policy experience with government, non-profit organizations and private companies throughout California. He has focused on solar power, landfill gas, hydrogen vehicles and environmental justice. Professional associations include the Rahus Institute, California Solar Project, Trust for Public Land, North Bay Institute of Green Technology, Sonoma County Conservation Council, and EcoVote.

Brant Arthur, Transportation Implementation Manager
Brant manages the implementation of the transportation component of Sonoma County’s Community Climate Action Plan and leads the Carma carpooling team. He recently completed a Master’s Degree in Development Practice focusing on engaging local governments and climate change. He implemented sustainability programs for non-profits in Boston, worked with students to fund solar projects in Western China, and organized stakeholders to halt urban sprawl in Brisbane, Australia.

Amy JollyECO2school Program Manageramy jolly for web
Amy has a background in education as well as transportation. She started her career as a teacher, then owned and directed the Jolly House preschool for five years. She also helped start a foundation at a local charter school. Amy then worked as the Education Program Manager for the Safe Routes to School program at the Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition. She now manages programs in local high schools to train student leaders and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from student commutes.

Laurie-Ann BarbourAdministrative Manager
A native Californian, Laurie-Ann grew up in San Francisco and earned a BS in Soil Science from Cal Poly. After college she taught environmental education for elementary students. For 20 years she spent her summers leading Sierra Club Service trips throughout the western US. Locally, Laurie-Ann has worked for Green Mary and Laguna Farm as well as running her own organic, vegetarian catering business. Currently she lives with her daughter at FrogSong co-housing development and enjoys using Carma to commute to work.

Lindsay Tamm, Transportation Project Coordinator   Lindsay began her work at the Center for Climate Protection in 2011 conducting and synthesizing focus group findings for our Real-time Ridesharing pilot. She has since become a Transportation Project Coordinator working in communications, social media as a community manager and pilot strategist. She has a strong background in environmental education, development strategy and now transportation and has worked in the US, China and Japan.
